We are delighted to announce the appointment of Mel Crossland as Managing Director as we progress our nation-wide expansion.
Crossland joins charitable trust, Leisure United as we look to bring a further six new football and fitness hub signings in 2022 to our current portfolio of ten hubs across Sheffield, Liverpool and Sunderland. Whilst interim Managing Director Warren Ormerod will take on the role of Executive Consultant to focus on the strategic roll out of further new football and fitness hubs across the nation in partnership with the National Football Trust.
Formerly Head of Leisure at Frasers Group, Crossland has over a dozen years of Director-level experience from her time at Sports Direct, DW Fitness clubs and JJB. She brings with her a strong skill set, excellent commercial acumen, along with an outstanding reputation for team leadership for high performance fitness facilities.
Leisure United Chairman, David Gallagher comments “It’s a pleasure to welcome Mel to the team, she is highly respected in the fitness and leisure industry. She has great experience and energy which we know she will use effectively to lead and develop the team and bring consistency and impact to our brand. This reshaping of the senior team will ensure the hubs – existing and new – have the support and attention they need to flourish, as we accelerate our expansion plans. Warren has supported the transformation of Leisure United, by building a strong, secure structure and the plan has evolved to allow him now to become an instrumental link between Leisure United and wider partners”.
