Ford Quarry makes it a hub hattrick for Leisure United in Sunderland
The latest addition to the Leisure United hub line-up is Ford Quarry, joining Washington, and Downhill, to complete a trio of top sporting facilities for Sunderland.
Ford Quarry boasts three floodlit 3G all-weather pitches, and a full-sized class A 3G pitch with two blocks of stadium seating for fans, accessed via turnstiles, with seven group changing rooms and three dedicated changing facilities for officials. The centre has the capability and facilities to host Step 7 football games. All the pitches are easily converted for use by 11, 9, 7 and 5-a-side football teams, with local leagues and tournaments in the pipeline. With women’s, children’s, junior, youth and even walking football, after-school and holiday clubs planned, the grass never looked greener for fully inclusive football in the area.
After a good training session, or a win, lose or draw, there’s the opportunity for players and fans to refresh and refuel at the outdoor kiosk, or head into the hub, for a fully equipped café bar experience.
Working in conjunction with the café, are flexible meeting rooms, fully kitted out to cater for kid’s football parties, or top training facilities. The venue has been built specifically with education and coaching courses in mind, with Durham County FA set to deliver Level 1, 2 and UEFA B training.
We’d like to acknowledge the support of our partners, The FA, Football Foundation, Premier League, Sport England, the DCMS and Sunderland City Council. We are committed to reinvesting all proceeds into the game and anticipate a thriving community hub where football, fitness and friends come together at Ford Quarry.
